11-02-1997 – ROY McMILLAN, a long-time scout for the MONTREAL
EXPOS, died at the age of 67 in Bonham, Texas. His nickname was "The
Sponge" and he was the premier fielding shortstop in the NL in the
1950s and 1960s with the REDS and BRAVES before finishing with the METS
in 1966. He was considered one of the foremost MLB scouts.

majors, from 1957-1962, with the YANKEES, SENATORS, TIGERS, INDIANS,
CARDINALS and COLT .45s, he was 10-13 with a 4.36 ERA.

was named Director, Finance then elevated to Vice President, Finance on
