BRAD WILKERSON IS THE
EXPOS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
FOR 2004

MONTREAL – In his third full season with the club Wilkerson established career highs in hits (146), runs (112), doubles (39), home runs (32), walks (106) and slugging (.468).

Wilkerson had a .382 on-base percentage in the 97 games when he hit leadoff. His nine first inning homers from the leadoff spot led MLB. Wilkerson is the Expos' all time leader in that department with 12.

Besides the sparkling offensive numbers, Wilkerson provided Gold Glove defence while starting 78 games at first base, 51 in left field, 16 in centre field and nine in right field.

Wilkerson received six of the 10 first place votes in a ballot conducted by the Montreal chapter of the BBWAA. RHP Livan Hernandez and 3B Tony Batista each had two. Both the French and English crews on the Expos network had a vote as did Bill Ladson, Expos' MLB.com reporter.
