MONTREAL EXPOS RELEASE
RIGHT-HAND PITCHER DAN SMITH

MONTREAL – The Expos today reinstated from the 60-Day Disabled List and released right-handed pitcher Dan Smith. Assistant General Manager/Director of Baseball Administration Tony Siegle made the announcement. Smith, 29, didn't pitch in the big leagues in 2004 while rehabbing from July 15, 2003 right rotator cuff and labrum surgery. He posted a 2.25 ERA in three minor league games for Brevard County during a June rehab assignment, but did not pitch thereafter. Smith is 7-12 with a 5.23 ERA in parts of four big league seasons with Montreal and Boston.
