OUTFIELDER JUAN RIVERA IS
EXPOS PLAYER OF THE MONTH
FOR SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2004
 

MONTREAL – In a ballot conducted by the Montreal chapter of the BBWAA, Rivera had five of nine first place votes. Interestingly, four players had first place votes. Also, no player was on the ballots of all nine selectors.

Rivera led the team in average (.357) and hits (40). 3B Tony Batista, who led the team with nine homers and 26 RBIs, was first on two ballots. Other first place choices were rookie OF Terrmel Sledge, who hit .308 with five homers, four triples and four doubles, and RHP Chad Cordero (3-0 with one save).

On a 5-3-1 point basis for first second and third, Rivera had 32 points with Batista and Sledge each getting 20.
