GARY CARTER VOTED INTO HALL OF FAME

The Montreal Expos today issued the following statement regarding former player Gary Carter's induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum:

"We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Gary and his family for the illustrious award he has received. Induction into the Hall of Fame is the greatest individual accomplishment in baseball, and Gary is entirely worthy of the honor bestowed upon him today," said Tony Tavares, Expos' president.

"Gary dedicated years of service and success to the Expos as a player, and he will forever be regarded as a member of the Expos' family. We wish him, his wife Sandy and their entire family our most sincere appreciation."

During his 19-year career, Carter hit .262 with 324 HR and 1,225 RBI. A World Series winner in 1986, Carter was also named to 11 All-Star teams, while picking up three Gold Glove awards as a catcher.
