EXPOS SPRING MINI-CAMP

Montreal The Montreal Expos today announced that a spring training mini-camp for 32 minor league players will be held from February 19 through March 5 at the team's minor league complex in Viera, FL. The announcement was made by the Director of Player Development, Adam Wogan. The players will work out for two weeks and will also attend a development program geared to prepare them for the major leagues. The roster includes 15 pitchers, three catchers, six infielders and eight outfielders. Among the top prospects participating at the mini-camp are Expos 2003 Minor League Pitcher of the Year LHP Michael Hinckley; South Atlantic League hit leader OF/1B Chad Chop; the 2002 No. 1 & 2 draft picks, RHP Clint Evert and RHP Darrell Rasner and the 2001 No. 1 draft selection RHP Josh Karp.

Also participating at the mini-camp are OF Ender Chavez, brother of Expos' outfielder Endy Chavez and last year's No. 2 draft pick, OF Jerry Owens. Minor League Field Coordinator Doug Sisson will be in charge of the mini-camp assisted by Pitching Coordinator Brent Strom, Hitting Coordinator Frank Cacciatore, Infield Coordinator Jose Alguacil and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator Michael Arndt.
