SOMETHING FOR EVERBODY
HALL'S OPENING DAY FESTIVAL
THE CANADIAN BASEBALL HALL
OF FAME AND MUSEUM
OPENS SATURDAY MAY 1ST, 2004

St. Marys – You can hike, you can bike, you can root for the home team, get your face painted, play games, win $5,000 worth of lottery tickets, or just come out for a tasty hot dog and a cold beverage this Saturday at the Opening Day festivities for the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum.

If you have not had the opportunity to check out the museum or the development of the 32-acre site donated to the CBHFM from the St. Marys Cement Plant, Saturday is the perfect day, at any time between 10:30 AM and 4:00 PM. That way, when guests come to visit, you will know what the Hall has to offer, and you can proudly show off one of Ontario's finest tourist attractions.

Hall of Famer Jim Fanning will be on site to meet and greet for the entire day.

Healthy Living Perth - Hike & Bike

Healthy Living Perth is once again coordinating their annual Hike & Bike to the Hall. Anytime between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, bring your family and friends, and start out at the Water Street entrance to the Hall. You will proceed along the "bases" getting your passport stamped, and close out your journey at the museum, and your passport will be entered into the draw for some fabulous prizes, including swimming passes from the St. Marys Recreation Department, Blue Jays tickets, and some autographed Hall of Fame items. Participants in the Hike & Bike will receive free admission to the museum, and Healthy Living Perth will be on site all day long.

Youth Activities

Also from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Gateway Children's Village will again be providing the bounce house and the air-slide, this year with added value for the toonie than previous years. There will also be free batting practice, running the bases, and a radar gun to test player's throwing speed. The Youth Centre will provide face painting, St. Marys "Hand Prints," a colouring contest, and there will be a scavenger hunt at 1:00 PM. Youth can also take the WAZZUP? Quiz in the museum.

Root for the home team

The 4th Annual Perth "Baseball-Challenged Cup" will also be on tap, with games running from 11:00 AM through 3:00 PM. The Town of St. Marys will put a team on the field including town hall staffers, merchants and other St.Marys notables (call Town Hall if you want to play!), and they will be taking on Stratford, Perth South and Perth East for the coveted trophy and bragging rights for the year ahead.

Lotto Draw Earlybird

At 1:00 PM, the Earlybird draw for the Hall's Lotto Draw will be held, with $5,000 worth of Lottery tickets up for grabs! Get your tickets at various locations around town until Friday, or at the Hall's museum on Saturday before 12:00 Noon.
