Senator Trevor Eyton, Chair of the Board of Governors of the Hall was pleased to announce that Tom Cheek would be the first recipient of this special award. "Tom, through his radio broadcasts, represented the spirit of the Blue Jays since their first game on April 7, 1977, including two consecutive World Series in 1992 and 1993 and his streak of 4,306 consecutive games broadcasted. Tom provided exceptional leadership in this role by consistently exhibiting pride, poise and a generous humility."
