Toronto – The Toronto Blue Jays are pleased to announce newly acquired pitcher A.J. Burnett will make his first appearance in Toronto on Monday February 6th in support of the Jays Care Foundation. A.J. Burnett will present the grand prize, a 2006 Pontiac Torrent, to the winner of Monday's Jays Care Foundation Reverse Draw, running from 6:00 - 10:00 pm at the Liberty Grand.

Blue Jays President & CEO Paul Godfrey says, "We're so pleased to have A.J. join us for this gala fundraiser for Rookie League Baseball. His generous support of the Jays Care Foundation and its activities aimed at enhancing the lives of children stand as proof we've not only signed an outstanding pitcher but are also welcoming an outstanding person to the Blue Jays family."

Signed as a free agent by the Blue Jays on December 8, 2005, Burnett included a clause in his contract in which he made a $250,000 donation to the Jays Care Foundation. This matched fellow free agent signee B.J. Ryan for the largest donation in the Foundation's history.

The proceeds from this year's Reverse Draw have been earmarked for the Jays Care Foundation's ongoing support of Rookie League Baseball. The program provides hundreds of children from Toronto Community Housing with a chance to learn, play and enjoy the game of baseball with weekly tournaments. At Monday's Reverse Draw, the Jays Care Foundation will announce the first details of a new program extending the Foundation's support of Rookie League beyond the diamond and into the classroom.

Now in its second year, the Jays Care Foundation Reverse Draw gives all 200 ticketed participants a chance to win prizes including a brand new vehicle from GM Canada. The names of all the participants are placed in a drum and drawn one by one, with the last name called declared the grand prizewinner (at approximately 9:45 pm). The evening will also include performances from a pair of renowned performers, pianist Naki Ataman and singer Carol McCartney.
