6-06-1978 – RHP MIKE MORGAN was 4th player selected in the June free agent draft by the OAKLAND ATHLETICS, making his MLB debut one week later in a losing outing against the BALTIMORE ORIOLES despite allowing only two earned runs in the complete game effort.

6-06-1990 – Exactly one month after hitting three home runs in a game, CECIL FIELDER did it again, becoming only the fourth player in AL history to do so twice in the same season, as his DETROIT TIGERS defeated the CLEVELAND INDIANS, 6-4. In 1989, he had played for the HANSHIN TIGERS of the CENTRAL LEAGUE in Japan. He finished the 1990 campaign with 51 homers, becoming the first to go over the 50 home run mark since 1977 when GEORGE FOSTER stroked 52 for his CINCINNATI REDS.

6-14-1972 – C TIM McCARVER is traded to the MONTREAL EXPOS in exchange for C JOHN BATEMAN, and for the first time in his career sees playing time in leftfield and third base.

6-14-1977 – DETROIT TIGERS LHP JOHN HILLER fanned 12 in 7-2 start over the BLUE JAYS at TIGER STADIUM, a career high and tops for staff on the season, in which he finished 8-14, had a 3.56 ERA, with 115 Ks in 124 innings pitched, and seven saves brought his career total to 101.

6-14-1979 – SPARKY ANDERSON joins the DETROIT TIGERS with a contract to manage through the 1984 season. Before that the two-time NATIONAL LEAGUE Manager of the Year skippered the CINCINNATI REDS to a 863-586 mark between 1970-1978.

6-24-1976 – DETROIT TIGERS prospect LHP SHELDON BURNSIDE tossed a seven-inning no-hitter for MONTGOMERY over CHARLOTTE in SOUTHERN LEAGUE action, which was also his first career shutout.

6-24-1977 – 3B ROY HOWELL hit a bloop single in the top of the 9th inning scoring C ALAN ASHBY from second base to break a 4-4 tie and their BLUE JAYS teammates hung on to knock off the BALTIMORE ORIOLES, 5-4.

6-24-1977 – After being selected first in the June free-agent draft, IF PAUL MOLITOR was signed to his first professional contract with the MILWAUKEE BREWERS by DEE FONDY.

6-24-1984 – 1B PAT TABLER set the CLEVELAND INDIANS record for most assists in a game by a first baseman with 6.

6-24-1998 –
MATT STAIRS, playing with the OAKLAND ATHLETICS, hit what was just the fourth pinch-hit grand slam in franchise history and the 100th grand slam in club history.

6-24-2003 – MONTREAL EXPOS OF BRAD WILKERSON hit for the cycle, in order, against the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 24th at Olympic Stadium. In the game, he went 4-for-4 with four RBIs in the Expos' 6-4 win. Wilkerson is the fourth player in history to hit for the cycle on June 24. Dave Winfield did it with the Angels against the Royals in 1991, Bob Watson pulled the trick in 1977 with the Astros against the Giants and the Pirates' Arky Vaughan did it against the Dodgers in 1933. Wilkerson is the first Expo since Rondell White in 1995 to hit for the cycle. White collected his four hits against the Giants in San Francisco. Overall, the Expos now have five players – BRAD WILKERSON, RONDELL WHITE, TM FOLI, CHRIS SPEIER and TIM RAINES – who have pulled the trick in their history.

The first triple play in MONTREAL EXPOS franchise history took place against the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS. With VADA PINSON at the plate, and JIM 'MUDCAT' GRANT and CURT FLOOD on the basebpaths, a line drive was hit directly at 1B BOB BAILEY who stepped on the bag doubling off the runner, he then threw to BOBBY WINE covering second for the third out, catching Grant before he could return to the bag.

6-25-1978 – Called up the previous day by the NEW YORK YANKEES, 2B DAMASO GARCIA made his MLB debut going 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored in a 4-2 win over the DETROIT TIGERS.

6-26-1976 – MONTREAL EXPOS OF BOMBO RIVERA hit a rare inside-the-park grand slam off JERRY REUSS of the PITTSBURGH PIRATES at JARRY PARK.

6-26-1977 – PETE VUCKOVICH pitches first BLUE JAYS shutout, defeating the BALTIMORE ORIOLES, 2-0, on a 6-hit, 12 K performance over JIM PALMER.

6-26-1978 – The BLUE JAYS plate 24 runs, on 24 hits, with 41 total bases, as they romp over the BALTIMORE ORIOLES, 24-10, with two-dozen still the high-water mark for runs in a game. JOHN MAYBERRY pounded out 2 home runs totalling 7 RBI and DAVE McKAY tied a MLB mark by doubling twice in the same inning.

DICK WILLIAMS was appointed the manager of the CALIFORNIA ANGELS, joining the team on July 1st.

6-27-1977 – HECTOR TORRES hit the first grand slam in BLUE JAYS franchise history off RON GUIDRY of the NEW YORK YANKEES in the fifth inning at EXHIBITION STADIUM.

6-27-1986 – DAMASO GARCIA tied a MLB record with 4 doubles as his BLUE JAYS teammates doubled up the NEW YORK YANKEES, 14-7, with JESSE BARFIELD continuing to pace the club, driving in 5 runs.

6-27-1998 – ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS OF YAMIL BENITEZ became the first hitter to reach Friay's Front Row in left field, a 452-foot solo homer, the longest in the initial season at BANK ONE BALLPARK.

6-27-2000 – The MONTREAL EXPOS won their 1000th game at OYLMPIC STADIUM defeating TOM GLAVINE and is ATLANTA BRAVES, 6-4. Since making the move to the BIG 'O' in 1977, the EXPOS have posted a 1000-824 record (.548).

6-28-1987 – TORONTO BLUE JAYS 1B FRED McGRIFF hit his first career pinch-hit home run off JAY ALDRICH of the MILWAUKEE BREWERS.

6-28-1991 – OF DEREK BELL made his MLB debut as a starter in left field against the SEATTLE MARINERS.

6-28-1998 – RYAN DEMPSTER won his first MLB game for the FLORIDA MARLINS versus the BOSTON RED SOX, matching a season high with 7 innings pitched, allowing only one run on four hits, with six strikeouts and three walks.

6-29-1978 – Canadian-born RHP BILL ATKINSON was the winning pitcher and scored the winning run in the 1st Annual PEARSON CUP exhibition game, a 5-4 EXPOS decision, pitting the two Canadian entries in the big leagues, the EXPOS and BLUE JAYS, being the first game between the two Canadian-based major league teams, on Canadian soil. Ironically, it was while scoring the winning run that he suffered a severe groin injury which kept him with the Class-AAA DENVER BEARS until his return to Montreal after the1st of September.

6-29-1979 – DAVE STIEB pitched well but lost 6-1 to the BALTIMORE ORIOLES in his MLB pitching debut, giving up 2 home runs, the first longballs ever hit off him.

6-29-1997 – In his MLB debut KELVIM ESCOBAR pitched 4.1 innings of relief for the win as his TORONTO BLUE JAYS downed the BALTIMORE ORIOLES, 3-2.

6-29-2000 – ANDRES GALARRAGA recorded his 2000th career MLB hit.

6-30-1973 – RHP GORDON PLADSON was signed to his first professional contract by the HOUSTON ASTROS as a non-drafted free-agent.

6-30-1976 –
Selected by the MONTREAL EXPOS in the June free agent draft, RHP DAVID PALMER was signed to his first professional contract by BILL MacKENZIE on this date.

6-30-1979 – Selected by the BLUE JAYS in the first round (third overall) in the June free agent, C/OF JAY SCHROEDER was signed to his first professional contract but did not begin play until 1980 when he was with the MEDICINE HAT BLUE JAYS of the PIONEER LEAGUE.

6-30-1986 – OF DALE HOLMAN was playing for the SYRACUSE CHIEFS against the RICHMOND BRAVES when the game was suspended, then before the game could be resumed he was released and then signed with the Braves organization, being assigned to the Ricmond roster. He played in the continuation of the original match, this time in a RICHMOND BRAVES uniform and had a single and double for them to go with the double and 2 RBI he'd had earlier while with the SYRACUSE CHIEFS.

6-30-1993 – The BLUE JAYS acquire lead-off specialist and stolen base king RICKEY ENDERSON from the OAKLAND ATHLETICS.
