president of the CHICAGO WHITE SOX.

3-08-1999 – NEW YORK YANKEES legend JOE DiMAGGIO dies at the age of 84 in Hollywood, Florida.

3-09-1995 – At a meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, baseball owners officially welcomed the TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS and ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS as the 13th and 14th expansion teams in MLB history by a vote of 28-0.
